Unsere 10 Favoriten für die Babyerstausstattung 🐣

Our 10 favorites for baby's layette 🐣

Everything in life changes with the birth of the (first) child.
You can find many things on the internet that suggest "you absolutely need this." But is that always the case?

Here we have compiled our team's favorite must-have items for a baby's first equipment.

Can you think of anything, or is there anything missing? Feel free to write it in the comments at the end.

1. Moon Nursing Pillow 🌝

Whether as a comfortable head and neck pillow or simply for snuggling up in while reading or watching TV on the sofa: the plush moon provides relaxing moments of well-being. And of course, the plush moon also guarantees relaxed breastfeeding on the go or during breaks.

Thanks to its ingenious moon shape, the head is always positioned correctly – whether for short moments of relaxation or for a restful sleep.

2. Wrap bodysuit

Our all -time favorite is the classic wrap bodysuit. There's simply nothing more practical. No struggling to pull it over the head or hips, just a relaxed, wrapped-up look. We highly recommend wrap bodysuits. Just make sure they have snaps on the inside so the bodysuit stays securely closed.

3. Wrap bodysuit made of wool/silk

A bit more expensive to buy, but also really wonderful for baby skin.

Merino wool/silk blends are temperature and moisture regulating, making them perfect for any season and promoting a healthy skin climate. The wool/silk ratio ideally combines the advantages of both materials and ensures a long lifespan for the garment. Wool/silk is even gentler on the skin than pure wool, so this blend is often well-tolerated by babies with sensitive skin.

Wool/silk bodysuits are now available in many different colors and therefore look really cute.

Cleaning tip: If something does go wrong, you can lay the bodysuit in the sun after cleaning while it is dry, so that the unsightly stains disappear.

4. Diapers

Opinions differ when it comes to diapers. Our favorites are actually Amazon's own brand . They fit well and securely, look incredibly cute with the Disney designs, and are really leak-proof for a long time. Plus, we think the price-performance ratio is excellent. And the best part is, I get them delivered right to my door and don't have to go shopping.

5. Thermometer and bath thermometer

Since babies cannot regulate their body temperature very well, we were advised to check their temperature more often, especially at the beginning, after delivery.

We were given a thermometer in the hospital that measured incredibly slowly. Therefore, we strongly recommend that you get one that measures quickly and accurately.

For bathing, an analog thermometer has always been sufficient for us.

6. Night light

This little nightlight has proven incredibly useful for nighttime feedings. It's battery-operated, but can also be plugged into a small wall outlet for continuous illumination. It's quite bright for its size and attaches easily to things like the headboard.

7. Sleeping bag

To ensure safe sleep, we recommend buying a suitable sleeping bag. Babies should not sleep under blankets! The risk of the blanket being pulled over their head is simply too great. Therefore, make sure you choose a well-fitting sleeping bag. Depending on the season and bedroom temperature, you can choose a thicker or thinner sleeping bag. Some sleeping bags have a TOG rating, which describes the thickness of the sleeping bag. The higher the TOG rating, the thicker and warmer the sleeping bag.

8. Baby car seat

To safely transport your baby home in the event of a hospital birth , you will need a baby car seat.

It is extremely important to check and adhere to the expiration date to ensure the safety of your baby.

Infant car seats were developed to transport your child safely and securely in the car. They are particularly suitable from birth, as babies cannot sit in a car seat on their own. By law, children must sit in a car seat until they are 12 years old.
Baby car seats can either be attached to the car using a belt or using a so-called Isofix system .
It is recommended to use a rear-facing car seat (reboarder) for as long as possible . This is the safest option for your baby. Also, be careful not to leave your baby in the car seat for too long. Ideally, no more than two hours a day.

9. Nipple ointment

If you're breastfeeding, we think nipple cream is a real must-have. Especially at the beginning of breastfeeding, it's such an adjustment that sore and chapped nipples are common. You can simply apply the cream and don't need to wash it off before breastfeeding. You can also use it for dry lips (better than any lip balm) or for your baby's bottom.

10. Changing table spotlight

Especially with your first baby, diaper changes take a little longer at the beginning. That's why we can wholeheartedly recommend a radiant heater. You can also use the heater while bathing your baby to keep them warm and prevent them from getting too cold.

And of course, we must mention the most beautiful and personal gift for a newborn: the baby pillow with the baby's name on it .

Our personalized baby pillow is a truly unique item and is produced with love in Hamburg.
